Directions from Cologne Central Station
Cologne Central Station – Riphahn Café & Restaurant (Dinner April 24th)
Take tram line STR 16 with terminus “Bad Godesberg” or tram line STR 18 with terminus “Bonn Hbf” to “Neumarkt”. The tram crosses underground to “Neumarkt”. At “Neumarkt”, exit the tram, leave the underground and cross Neumarkt square to Hahnenstraße. Follow Hahnenstraße until you reach Apostelnkloster/Hahnenstraße crossing. The restaurant is located at Hahnenstraße/Apostenstraße 2 corner.
Cologne Central Station – University, Conference Location: “Seminargebäude“
Take tram line STR 16 with terminus “Bad Godesberg” or tram line STR 18 with the terminus “Bonn Hbf” to “Neumarkt”. The tram crosses underground to “Neumarkt”. At “Neumarkt” stop, exit the tram, leave the underground and take tram line STR 9 aboveground from “Neumarkt” with terminus “Sülz” to “Universität” stop. Exit the tram at “Universität”. From here, walk along Kerpener Straße until you reach Universitätsstraße. Follow Universitätsstraße in the direction of Albertus-Magnus-Platz, which you need to cross. The seminar building called “Seminargebäude” is behind the lecture hall building called “Hörsaalgebäude”.
Cologne Central Station – Flandrischer Hof (Hotel)
Take tram line STR 5 with terminus “Sparkasse am Butzweilerhof” to “Friesenplatz”. Here, exit the tram and walk along Friesenplatz. Turn into Hohenzollernring and follow it until you can take a right turn into Flandrische Straße. Your destination is on the left. Alternative route: tram line STR 16 with terminus “Bad Godesberg” or tram line STR 18 with terminus “Bonn Hbf” to “Neumarkt”. The tram crosses underground to “Neumarkt”. At “Neumarkt”, exit the tram, leave the underground and take tram line STR 1 with terminus “Weiden” or line STR 7 with terminus “Frechen” aboveground to “Rudolfplatz”. From “Neumarkt”, you can also take busses 136 or 146 with terminus “Daimlerstraße” to “Rudolfplatz”. Exit the tram/bus at “Rudolfplatz”. From here, follow Hohenzollernring north in the direction of Flandrische Straße and turn left into Flandrische Straße. From here, follow Hohenzollernring north in the direction of Flandrische Straße and turn left into Flandrische Straße. Your destination is on the left.
Arrival from Cologne/Bonn Airport
Cologne/Bonn Airport – University
Option 1: At the airport, get on suburban train S 19 on Platform 2 with the terminus “Düren” and travel approx. 13 minutes to “Köln Messe/Deutz” station. Alternatively, you can also take train RB 27 with terminus “Mönchengladbach Hbf” to “Köln Messe/Deutz”. Get off here on the left in direction of travel and walk left along the track up to the escalator. Take the downward escalator and continue right, down the tunnel, until you reach the first subway track on the left. Take the first staircase on the left down to the platform and then take subway STR 9 heading to “Sülz”, which changes from subway to overground tram and runs through to stop “Universität”.
Option 2: Take bus 161 from Terminal 1 and get off after approx. 17 minutes at “Porz Markt” stop. This bus runs every 30 minutes. From there, change to tram line STR 7 in the direction of “Frechen”, which will take you to “Neumarkt” station in approx. 45 minutes. Then get off at “Neumarkt” stop to change trams. Stay on the same platform, take tram line STR 9 in the direction of “Sülz” and get off at “Universität”.
Cologne/Bonn Airport – Hotel Flandrischer Hof
Option 1: At the airport, get on train S 19 on Platform 2 in the direction of “Düren” and travel approx. 13 minutes to “Köln Messe/Deutz” station. Alternatively, you can also take train RB 27 heading to “Mönchengladbach Hbf” to “Köln Messe/Deutz” station. Get off here on the left in direction of travel and walk left along the track to the escalator. After approx. 200 meters, turn right into Flandrische Straße. The hotel “Flandrischer Hof” is also located on the right-hand side at the address Flandrische Straße 3-11, 50674 Cologne.
Option 2: Take bus 161 from Terminal 1 and get off at “Porz Markt” stop after approx. 17 minutes. This bus runs every 30 minutes. From there, take tram line STR 7 in the direction of “Frechen”, which will take you to “Neumarkt” station in approx. 45 minutes. Stay on the same platform and change to tram line STR 9 heading to “Sülz” and get off at “Rudolfplatz”, on the right in direction of travel. Then, walk straight ahead to the intersection. Cross the intersection Hohenzollernring and follow Aachener Straße. After approx. 200 meters, turn right into Flandrische Straße. The hotel “Flandrischer Hof” is also located on the right-hand side at the address Flandrische Straße 3-11, 50674 Cologne.
University – Hotel
University, Conference Location „Seminargebäude“ – Flandrischer Hof (Hotel)
Follow Universitätsstraße until you get to Kerpener Straße. Follow Kerpener Straße to tram stop “Universität”. From here, take tram line STR 9 with terminus “Königsforst” to “Zülpicher Platz” stop. Change to tram line STR 12 with terminus “Merkenich” and exit the tram at “Rudolfplatz”. Cross Rudolfplatz square in the direction of Habsburgerring; from there, continue onto Aachener Straße, which you follow until you can make a right turn into Brabanter Straße. Follow the street until you can take a right turn into Flandrische Straße. The destination is on your right.
University – Konference dinner – Hotel
University, Conference Location „Seminargebäude“ – Restaurant “Haus Sion im Schäfer”
Follow Eckertstraße past the “Philosophikum” building. Cross Gyrhofstraße and keep following Eckertstraße until you can take a left turn into An St. Laurentius. Follow An St. Laurentius to Kringsweg. Follow Kringsweg until you reach Gleueler Str./Bachemer Straße crossing. Cross at the stoplight and continue straight to Bachemer Straße. Follow Bachemer Straße until you can turn right onto Theresienstraße. Continue straight on Theresienstraße until you can take a left turn into Dürener Straße. “Haus Sion im Schäfer” is on your left.
Restaurant “Haus Sion im Schäfer” – Flandrischer Hof (Hotel)
There are three different options for getting from “Haus Sion im Schäfer” to “Hotel Flandrischer Hof”.
Option 1: The bus stop “Theresienstraße” is located directly in front of the restaurant. Take bus 136 with terminus “Neumarkt” to “Rudolfplatz”. Cross Rudolfplatz square in the direction of Habsburgerring; from there, continue onto Aachener Straße, which you follow until you can make a right turn into Brabanter Straße. Follow the street until you can take a right turn into Flandrische Straße. The destination is on your right.
Option 2: Walk on Dürener Straße until you can take a right turn onto Stadtwaldgürtel, the tram stop “Dürener Straße” is on your left. From there, take tram line STR 7 with terminus “Zündorf” to “Rudolfplatz”. Exit the tram. Cross Rudolfplatz square in the direction of Habsburgerring; from there, continue onto Aachener Straße, which you follow until you can make a right turn into Brabanter Straße. Follow the street until you can take a right turn into Flandrische Straße. The destination is on your right.
Option 3: Walk on Dürener Straße until you can make a right turn into Theresienstraße. Follow Theresienstraße to Leiblplatz. Continue on Leiblplatz to “Leiblplatz” bus stop. Here, take bus 146 with terminus “Neumarkt” to “Rudolfplatz”. Cross Rudolfplatz square in the direction of Habsburgerring; from there, continue onto Aachener Straße, which you follow until you can make a right turn into Brabanter Straße. Follow the street until you can take a right turn into Flandrische Straße. The destination is on your right.
Departure
University – Cologne Central Station
Follow Universitätsstraße until you reach Kerpener Straße. Walk along Kerpener Straße to the “Universität” stop. From here, take tram line STR 9 in the direction of “Königsforst” to “Neumarkt” stop. Get off and walk left along the track to the subway station stairs. At the bottom, turn right to the tracks. Take the left-hand stairs for tram line STR 16 in the direction of “Niehl” and/or STR 18 heading to “Thielenbruch” and travel two stops to the main station called “Dom/Hauptbahnhof” (Cologne Central Station). Both tram lines run every 2 to 8 minutes.
Flandrischer Hof (Hotel) – Cologne Central station
Follow north-east on Flandrische Straße in the direction of Lütticher Straße. Turn left into Hohenzollernring and enter the subway station “Friesenplatz”. Take tram line STR 5 with terminus “Heumarkt” to “Dom/Hauptbahnhof” (Cologne Central Station).
Flandrischer Hof (Hotel) – Cologne/Bonn Airport
Follow north-east on Flandrische Straße in the direction of Lütticher Straße. Turn left into Hohenzollernring and enter subway station “Friesenplatz”. Take tram line 5 with terminus “Heumarkt” to “Dom/Hauptbahnhof” (Cologne Central Station). At Cologne Central Station, you can either take train RE 6 (direction Cologne/Bonn Airport) on Platform 4 to Cologne/Bonn Airport (journey time approx. 18 minutes), or alternatively train S 19 heading to “Au (Sieg)” on Platform 10 to “Köln/Bonn Airport” station (journey time approx. 14 minutes, every 20 minutes).
